This position reports directly to the Associate Professor, Karen Dannemiller in the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geodetic Engineering, The Post-Doctoral Scholar participates in research on exposures related to childhood asthma and the indoor microbiome; conducts quantitative studies, engages with development and validation of assessment tools, and conducts qualitative methods to code interviews with associated projects; researches topics such as the commercialization and innovation of research outcomes; maintains IRB protocol and makes amendments as needed; prepares and writes journal articles, conference papers, and presents findings at local and national conferences; collaborates with external colleagues; mentors a team of undergraduate and graduate students across all phases of research; answers questions and provides guidance about the direction of research groups and individual research projects to PIs; assists with the preparation of grant proposals by collaborating with Principal Investigators to discuss the grant writing process.

This position also supervises undergraduate students.

Hiring Rate = $61,008

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:

Minimum Requirements : Doctorate (Academic) Required: Ph.D in engineering, public health, or closely related field; demonstrates ability to tailor complex ideas to multiple audiences: academic peers, policymakers, community groups, or corporate stakeholders. Must possess strong interpersonal skills to co-create knowledge and initiatives across disciplines and roles.

Desired: Experience with R coding; strong verbal and written communication skills; prior experience working with or mentoring undergraduate students.
