Postdoctoral Researcher in Artificial Intelligence and Visualization at University of Notre Dame

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Notre Dame is inviting applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Visualization (VIS). The successful candidate will join the Vis Lab and engage in research at the intersection of AI/ML and visualization, focusing on developing intelligent methods to support the visual analysis, interpretation, and understanding of complex data. The position is supported by existing funding through June 30, 2027, with an initial one-year appointment and possible extension based on performance and funding availability. The start date is flexible but must be no later than July 1, 2026. Research topics include AI-assisted, ML-driven, or foundation model-enabled visualization, visual analytics, and human-centered AI. The exact research direction will be shaped jointly based on the postdoc’s interests and expertise. Applicants should have a PhD in Computer Science or a closely related field completed by the start date, with a strong research record or demonstrated potential in AI/ML, visualization, or related areas. Experience publishing in leading venues such as VIS, CHI, SIGGRAPH, or CVPR is desirable. Strong research skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are expected. The position offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits in accordance with university postdoctoral scales. To apply, candidates should submit a curriculum vitae, a research statement (three pages excluding citations) describing relevant experience and future research interests, and the names and contact information of two references. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. For questions or informal inquiries, contact Professor Chaoli Wang at [email protected].
