The Department of Psychiatry at the University of California, San Diego is seeking applicants for a postdoctoral fellowship focused on clinical neuroscience and psychedelic-assisted mindfulness therapy for addiction and chronic pain. The position is part of the ONEMIND (Optimized Neuroscience-Enhanced Intervention Design) program, led by Professor Eric Garland, and involves federally funded research on Mindfulness-Oriented Recovery Enhancement (MORE) for opioid use disorder and chronic pain. The postdoc will assist with clinical trials, provide psychedelic-assisted therapy sessions, analyze psychophysiological data (EEG, fMRI), and contribute to manuscript preparation and grant writing. Applicants should hold a PhD in Clinical Psychology, Health Psychology, or an MD with a psychiatry focus. Candidates with PhDs in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, or Data Science may be considered if they also have a clinical master's degree. Required skills include scientific writing, data analysis, and experience in mindfulness-based interventions, psychedelic-assisted therapy, and/or psychotherapy. Preferred qualifications include experience with psychophysiological data analysis, computer coding, machine learning, and study coordination on federally funded projects. The fellowship is a two-year, renewable position with a competitive salary and full benefits. Fellows will have opportunities to coauthor scientific articles, write federal grants, and potentially transition into a faculty role at UCSD. The position is open immediately, and applicants must be willing to live in the San Diego region. Application materials include a CV, cover letter, and three references, to be sent to Dr. Eric Garland. For more information, visit the ONEMIND program page. Key research areas include psychedelic-assisted therapy, mindfulness, addiction, clinical neuroscience, chronic pain, EEG, fMRI, and data analysis. The lab offers interdisciplinary connections and is ranked highly for NIH funding in psychiatry. This opportunity is ideal for candidates interested in advancing research and clinical practice in addiction and mindfulness-based interventions.
