Fully Funded PhD Positions in Public Interest Media, Media Innovation, and Policy (RePIM Doctoral Network)

The RePIM Doctoral Network is recruiting 12 fully funded PhD researchers to join a four-year Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) project focused on Revisioning Public Interest Media. This interdisciplinary network brings together leading European universities, public interest media organizations, and industry partners to address the challenges and opportunities facing media in a data-driven, platform-dominated world. Research areas include media content innovation, infrastructure transformation, organizational change, audience analysis, and policy development. PhD candidates will be employed full-time for 36 or 48 months (depending on the project) at one of the participating universities across Europe, including the University of Groningen, University of Zurich, Charles University Prague, Aalborg University, University of Stavanger, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Paris Lodron University of Salzburg, University of Warsaw, and Tallinn University. The program offers a vibrant, international, and cross-sectoral training environment, with opportunities for secondments, summer and winter schools, scenario-building workshops, and close collaboration with non-academic partners. All positions are fully funded in accordance with MSCA Doctoral Network regulations, providing a competitive salary, living allowance, mobility allowance, and family allowance (if applicable). Additional benefits include full social security coverage, international secondments, paid internships at media organizations, and a comprehensive training program covering research skills, data management, ethics, policy, management, and leadership. The network also offers a final scenario-building symposium and career days in Brussels. Eligibility requirements include not already holding a doctoral degree and compliance with the MSCA mobility rule (not having resided or carried out main activity in the host country for more than 12 months in the 36 months before recruitment). Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in a relevant field, demonstrate a strong academic track record, have a solid scientific background, be proficient in English, and be motivated to pursue doctoral research. Willingness to relocate and participate in international training and exchanges is essential. To apply, candidates should review the detailed project descriptions and application guidelines on the RePIM website. Applications are open until 31 January 2026. Applicants may express interest in up to three positions in a single application, clearly specifying their first choice. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in public interest media, media innovation, policy, and interdisciplinary research in a dynamic European network.
