Postdoc in Social Network Modeling of Clean Energy Acceptance and Support in the Caribbean Population (JADS/ILUSTRE)

This postdoctoral position at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) offers an exciting opportunity to join the Innovation Lab for Utilities on Sustainable Technology and Renewable Energy (ILUSTRE) within JADS, focusing on the social network modeling of clean energy acceptance and support in the Caribbean, particularly among the Curaçao population. The project adopts a social science approach, leveraging machine learning and social network analysis (SNA) to analyze and model the evolving opinions and willingness to adopt clean energy technologies among stakeholders. The successful candidate will extract topics, opinions, and social networks from documents such as newspaper articles using advanced machine learning methodologies. Subsequent analysis will employ statistical social network models to understand the dynamics of opinion formation and the co-development of attitudes toward energy transition. The project may also involve developing agent-based models to simulate how these networks can be leveraged to facilitate the adoption of clean energy in the Caribbean context. The position is embedded in a vibrant, interdisciplinary research environment, with opportunities to collaborate with a large team of professors, PhD and EngD students, and to participate in teaching within JADS. TU/e is renowned for its strong ties to industry and commitment to both fundamental and applied research, providing a supportive infrastructure and a diverse academic community. Applicants should have a PhD in Computational Social Science, Sociology, Machine Learning, or a related field, with proven expertise in statistical and/or agent-based network modeling. Strong English communication skills and a collaborative mindset are essential. The position offers a full-time, two-year contract with a competitive salary (scale 10: €4,241–€5,538 per month), year-end and vacation bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package including training, childcare, sports facilities, and support for international staff. To apply, submit your application online with a cover letter, CV (including publications and references), and a list of five best publications. The vacancy remains open until filled, with a formal deadline of December 20, 2025. For further information, contact Dr. Claudia Zucca or Prof. Roger Leenders. Postdoc in Social Network Modeling of Clean Energy Acceptance and Support in the Caribbean Population

This postdoctoral position at Eindhoven University of Technology offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the sustainable energy transition in the Caribbean, focusing on the Dutch Caribbean islands. The successful candidate will join the Innovation Lab for Utilities on Sustainable Technology and Renewable Energy (ILUSTRE) within JADS, working in a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment. The project adopts a social science perspective, leveraging advanced computational methods such as machine learning and social network analysis to understand and facilitate the adoption of clean energy technologies. The research will involve extracting and modeling topics, opinions, and social networks from diverse sources, including newspaper articles, to analyze how public sentiment and stakeholder perspectives evolve over time. Statistical social network models will be used to study the co-development of opinions and willingness to adopt clean energy solutions within Curaçao society. The project also aims to develop agent-based models to simulate and support the energy transition process, with a strong preference for ML and SNA methodologies. Applicants should have a PhD in Computational Social Science, Sociology, Machine Learning, or a related discipline, with proven expertise in network modeling. The position requires excellent English proficiency, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a vibrant academic community. The postdoc will have opportunities to participate in teaching and benefit from high-quality training programs, technical infrastructure, and support services, including assistance for international candidates. Employment is full-time for two years, with a competitive salary (scale 10: €4,241–€5,538/month), year-end bonus, vacation pay, and additional allowances for commuting, home working, and moving expenses. The university offers a supportive environment with access to sports facilities, childcare, and a dedicated postdoc association. Applications should be submitted online and include a cover letter, CV, references, and a selection of best publications. The position will remain open until filled, with a final application deadline of December 20, 2025. For further information, prospective candidates may contact Dr. Claudia Zucca or Prof.de. Roger Leenders. The university is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive academic community and encourages applications from qualified researchers worldwide.
