Karolinska Institutet Postdoctoral Scholarship

Karolinska Institutet invites applications for a postdoctoral scholarship in medicine, focusing on neuroimaging in cognitive disorders. This position is based in the dynamic and multidisciplinary research group led by Dr. Eric Westman, with collaborative ties to Professor Lars Nyberg’s group at Umeå University. The research centers on understanding the heterogeneity and complexity of aging and cognitive diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, using advanced imaging techniques (MRI and PET) and artificial intelligence.

The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing research activities, develop independent projects, and collaborate within and outside the group. Responsibilities include project coordination, student supervision, and grant writing. The environment encourages independent thinking and initiative, with a strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.

Applicants should have a doctorate (or equivalent) and prior experience in brain imaging related to aging and dementia. Skills in machine learning and programming (R or Python) are highly valued. The position is open exclusively to foreign researchers who have not completed any part of their academic education in Sweden, in line with the scholarship’s aim to promote internationalization. Proficiency in English is required.

The scholarship is tax-free, initially for one year with a high possibility of extension for a second year, and is paid in six-month installments.
