About this position

Paderborn University in Germany is offering up to 10 fully funded PhD positions in the Institute for Photonic Quantum Systems (PhoQS) as part of the PhoQS FUTURE Graduate Program, starting in Fall 2026. The research areas include experimental and theoretical physics, electrical engineering, computer science, and mathematics, with a focus on photonic quantum systems and quantum technologies. The program is highly interdisciplinary and encourages collaboration across these fields.

Successful candidates will participate in research related to photonic quantum systems, teach for 3–4 hours per week, and complete a doctoral thesis in one of the relevant research areas. The program offers a structured and interdisciplinary graduate experience, coordinated with expertise in higher education in STEM. Candidates are expected to have an above-average master's degree or equivalent in one of the listed disciplines, strong English language skills, and an interest in interdisciplinary research. Experience in photonic quantum systems is desirable but not required.
