About this position

The Bavarian Research Institute for Digital Transformation (bidt) is inviting applications for 10 postdoctoral positions in the 2027 cohort of its Graduate Centre for Postdocs. This prestigious program is designed to support early-career researchers in independently realizing their research projects, with a strong emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) and digitalization across various disciplines. The initiative aims to foster interdisciplinary exchange, networking, and further qualification, preparing postdocs for successful academic careers, including tenure-track and junior research group leadership roles.

Applicants should be in their first one to two years after completing their doctorate and must propose a research project related to AI and digitalization. The future employment must be at a university sponsored or significantly refinanced by the Free State of Bavaria. The program is open to candidates with very good English skills and at least basic knowledge of German, with an interest in further language development. Interdisciplinary engagement and active participation in the Graduate Centre’s course program are expected.

Successful candidates will receive funding for a postdoc position (up to E14 TV-L) and annual research funds of €15,000 for up to four years, subject to budget availability. Additional benefits include access to exclusive bidt events, networking opportunities, and increased visibility within the academic community. The university at which the researcher is employed must provide the necessary infrastructure and resources.

The application process requires a completed application form, a five-page synopsis of the research project, a CV with certificates, and a declaration of support from the university and hosting chair. All documents must be submitted as a single PDF via EasyChair.org. The selection process is based on professional qualifications, the scientific quality of the research project, and its relevance to digital transformation and AI. The deadline for applications is 31 December 2025.

This opportunity is ideal for postdocs aiming to advance their careers in academia, particularly in the fields of AI, digitalization, and interdisciplinary research. For more information and detailed application instructions, visit the official program page or the provided LinkedIn posts.
