About this position

Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is advertising a 3-year postdoctoral position at the Center for Social and Cultural Psychology (CeSCuP) within the VICLIM research project.

The project examines social psychology, political psychology, and environmental psychology questions around climate change: when perceiving climate change as a threat leads to public support for climate policy. The work draws on collective victimhood and aims to build a framework for understanding support for both adaptation and mitigation policies, especially in contexts where other threats compete for public attention.

The position is supervised by Olivier Klein and Paul Bertin at ULB in Brussels. The ideal candidate has a PhD in Social, Political, or Environmental Psychology, a strong publication record, and experience with intergroup relations, social identity, quantitative methods, R, and open science. Excellent English is required; French is a plus.

Funding is provided by the FRS-FNRS through the WelCHANGE program. The contract is funded for 3 years, renewed annually, with a net salary of about €3,000/month plus full social and medical benefits.

Eligibility notes include a mobility rule: applicants must not have lived or worked in Belgium for more than 24 months in the 3 years before the start of the contract, and the PhD must have been defended no more than 8 years before the start date (with possible extension for pregnancies).

Deadline: 15 April 2026. Interviews: May 2026. Ideal start date: 1 October 2026 (flexible).

To apply, send a cover letter, CV with publications, and the names and email addresses of 3 referees to Olivier Klein and Paul Bertin by email.
