The University of St Andrews is offering four 4-year PhD / Associate Lecturer positions within its renowned School of Psychology & Neuroscience. This unique opportunity allows successful candidates to combine doctoral research in Psychology or Neuroscience (0.75 FTE) with undergraduate teaching responsibilities (0.25 FTE), including supervision of final year Psychology dissertations and involvement in teaching and marking across a range of modules. The positions are fully funded for four years, with the possibility of up to two additional years (unfunded) for PhD completion and writing up.

The School of Psychology & Neuroscience is home to approximately 40 academic staff and 60 PhD students, organized into four research groupings: Cellular and Behavioural Neuroscience, Perception Cognition and Action, Origins of Mind, and Social and Group Processes. Candidates may pursue their PhD in any of these areas, benefiting from a research environment recognized as top in the UK by the latest Research Excellence Framework (REF), with 85% of research rated as world-leading or internationally excellent. The School holds an Athena SWAN gold award and is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Applicants should be enthusiastic about combining teaching and research, particularly in supervising undergraduate research projects. Minimum requirements include an undergraduate degree in psychology or a related discipline, a passion for education, and eligibility to live and work in the UK without restrictions.
