About this position
The CREATOR Laboratory at Graz University of Technology, in collaboration with Technical University of Darmstadt, is offering five fully funded PhD research positions in the field of Computational Electric Machines. This opportunity is part of the SFB/TRR 361 CREATOR project, a German–Austrian interdisciplinary research initiative focused on digitalizing the development of electrical machines through advanced simulation techniques, including multiphysical, data-driven, and robust approaches.
CREATOR unites research groups from electrical engineering, information technology, mechanical engineering, materials science, and mathematics. Around 50 researchers collaborate on developing and applying numerical simulation methods and experimental techniques in areas such as electromagnetic fields, electric machines, fluid and structural mechanics, and optimization. The research focuses include heat transfer, fluid mechanics, analysis-suitable spline models, noise and vibration of electric drives, and thermal drive-cycle analysis, with work distributed across several institutes at Graz University of Technology.
Successful candidates will join a vibrant, diverse, and interdisciplinary team, contributing to cutting-edge research in computational modeling, simulation, and experimental analysis of electric machines. The positions offer an annual gross salary of at least €52,865.40 for full-time employment, with the possibility of higher pay based on qualifications and experience.
