About this position

Boston Dynamics, a global leader in advanced mobile robotics, is offering an exciting AI/ML Safety Internship at their Waltham, MA, USA office. This on-site opportunity is ideal for students currently pursuing a Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or closely related fields. As an intern, you will join the Safer Robotics team, focusing on research and development of machine learning solutions to enhance robot safety and behavior in real-world environments.

Key responsibilities include leading a research project in AI/ML safety and robotics, prototyping and deploying models on state-of-the-art robot platforms such as Atlas, writing high-quality Python code, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of roboticists and engineers. You will also have the opportunity to present your work to the broader robotics research group at Boston Dynamics.

Applicants should have experience in areas such as learned robot behaviors (including vision-language-action, behavior cloning, and reinforcement learning), AI/ML safety research, training machine learning models on large-scale vision or text data, and multimodal perception (vision, proprioception, touch sensing). Strong Python programming skills and a genuine passion for robotics research are essential. Experience with robot hardware or large codebases is considered a plus.

This paid internship provides hands-on experience with world-class robot platforms and the chance to contribute to real safety solutions in robotics. Interns will work in a collaborative environment, tackling real-world challenges and potentially paving the way for future full-time opportunities at Boston Dynamics.
