Assistant Professor / Associate Professor in Computational Neuroscience and Language at the University of Geneva University of Geneva in Switzerland

University of Geneva is inviting applications for a professorial appointment in computational neuroscience with a strong interface to language and cognition. The opening is within the Department of Basic Neurosciences, Faculty of Medicine, and is connected to the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research “Evolving Language”.

The position is advertised as Assistant Professor with Tenure Track or Associate Professor in computational neuroscience. Research directions of interest include neural encoding of hierarchy in language, neural bases of compositional processing in language or compositional reasoning, and neurocomputational principles of learning and memory systems supporting language. The call also welcomes other projects that create meaningful links between computational neuroscience and language, including evolutionarily and biologically plausible neural modelling.

The successful candidate will contribute to interdisciplinary research within the NCCR Evolving Language, take on administrative responsibilities in the department and faculty, and teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Supervision of Master’s and doctoral theses is part of the role.

Eligibility highlights: PhD or equivalent in a relevant field; strong publication record; experience leading a research team; competitive research funding; and ability to collaborate across disciplines.
