About this position

Lund University, Department of Energy Sciences (LTH), is recruiting an Assistant Professor in Energy Sciences with a focus on district heating, district cooling, and sector coupling. This is a tenure-track, full-time, fixed-term 6-year position within the Lund University Programme for Global Excellence.

The research theme centers on future integrated energy systems where heating, cooling, electricity, industrial processes, renewable energy, waste heat, digitalized control, optimization, resilience, and energy markets interact. The successful candidate will join the research group for district heating and efficient energy systems and contribute to the Division of Sustainable Energy Systems.

The role is research-intensive and also includes teaching in the first, second, and third cycles, supervision of degree projects and doctoral students, external funding applications, collaboration with industry and society, and departmental service. The position is designed to help the appointee build an independent research profile and develop toward a tenured senior lecturer role after six years.

Eligibility requires a doctorate or equivalent research competence, normally within seven years of the deadline, plus strong documented research experience, technical expertise in the subject area, recent research experience outside Sweden, leadership skills, teaching ability, excellent English, and willingness to learn Swedish. Applicants must submit a 1,000–1,500 word research plan showing how their work will strengthen the group and enable at least one competitive external funding application. Additional merits include experience with funding applications outside Sweden, an international position, business model development in district heating, and practical experience from a district heating company.

The post is based at Lund University in Sweden. Applications must be written in English and uploaded as PDF files in the recruitment system. The announcement notes that the appointment may be nominated for future Swedish Research Council funding for assistant professors with an international background.
