Franklin Cummings Tech (Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology) is hiring a full-time Assistant Professor of Computer IT - Cybersecurity in Boston, Massachusetts, with an expected start date of September 1, 2026.

This faculty opening is centered on cybersecurity within the college’s Computer IT program, including teaching and curriculum development for topics such as digital forensics, intrusion detection and prevention, security automation systems, and cybersecurity and risk management. The role is part of a growing cybersecurity concentration launched in Fall 2023, supported by external grants including Google, the National Science Foundation, and Mass Tech Collaborative for hands-on clinics, certification support, and internships.

The position is a teaching-focused academic appointment rather than a PhD, postdoc, or master’s opening. Responsibilities include teaching up to 15 contact hours per semester, holding office hours, participating in curriculum development, supporting assessment and retention, maintaining industry engagement, and contributing to college service and collaboration across departments.

Eligibility highlights: a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, at least three years of professional experience in higher education or the IT industry, cybersecurity expertise, and Security+ certification (or the ability to obtain it before employment begins). Preferred qualifications include prior teaching experience in cybersecurity and five or more years of industry experience. The college also requires in-person teaching at the Roxbury campus.
