University of California, Irvine School of Medicine is hiring an Assistant/Associate Adjunct Professor to serve as Physiology Course Director and Basic Science Faculty Educator in the Office of Medical Education and the Department of Physiology & Biophysics.
This is a year-round faculty position centered on physiology, immunology, gross anatomy, embryology, and medical education. The role combines course direction with hands-on teaching responsibilities, including delivering the Physiology/Immunology course, supporting horizontal and vertical integration across pre-clerkship learning, creating formative and summative assessments, and contributing to innovative teaching approaches such as technology-enhanced instruction, simulations, team-based learning, and case-based learning.
The educator will also collaborate on gross anatomy and embryology teaching, assist with longitudinal basic science content for upper-level medical students and other trainees, and contribute to academic success, service, and scholarly activity in medical education.
Eligibility highlights: a terminal degree (PhD or equivalent) in Physiology or a related discipline, at least two years of teaching experience in graduate or medical education, and demonstrated effectiveness across multiple organ systems and collaborative educational settings. Gross anatomy lab teaching experience is preferred.
Funding/salary: posted salary range is $93,700–$145,700, and the role may include membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan with possible additional compensation.
