About this position

The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Pathumthani, Thailand, is inviting applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor position in the Food Innovation, Nutrition, and Health (FINH) Academic Program, within the Department of Food, Agriculture and Natural Resources (FANR). This program is part of the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD) and is dedicated to addressing contemporary challenges in food systems, with a strong focus on food and nutrition security, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), nutritionally enhanced foods, food toxicology, food safety, quality control, and value addition.

The FINH program emphasizes maximizing resource utilization, integrating global supply chain strategies, and ensuring food safety and nutrition security across the food system. It also advances the development of functional foods and adopts a One Health approach. The curriculum is interdisciplinary, covering food science innovation, human and public health nutrition, metabolomics, alternative food ingredients, food processing and technology, food safety standards, legislation, and consumer behavior studies.

The successful candidate will be expected to design and deliver graduate-level courses in Human Nutrition, Public Health, and Nutrition-related NCDs, supervise Master’s and Doctoral students, and develop a research program leading to publications in professional journals. Additional responsibilities include developing new curriculum modules, engaging in thesis supervision, building partnerships with governments and industry, and participating in training programs and workshops.

Applicants must have a Doctorate in Food Science and Technology, Nutrition and Dietetic Science, Biological/Health Sciences, or a related discipline, with experience in teaching and research guidance. Desirable qualifications include a strong publication record, excellent communication skills, and experience in obtaining research grants. Professional expertise in designing food systems for enhanced nutrition and health, and experience with industry or NGOs, are advantageous.
