New Mexico State University’s Department of Agricultural and Extension Education (AXED) is recruiting a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Agricultural Education in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

This is a full-time faculty role with a 75% teaching and 25% research appointment. The successful candidate will teach and advise undergraduate and graduate students, supervise student teachers and interns, develop a nationally relevant research agenda, support recruitment and retention, and engage with school-based agricultural education teachers and FFA advisors. The position also connects with the Center for Excellence in Sustainable Food and Agricultural Systems (CESFAS).

Research and teaching interests include agricultural education, extension education, agricultural communications, community development, teacher preparation, online instruction, and the use of innovative educational technologies such as AI, 3-D printing, agricultural mechanics, precision agriculture, and drones.

Eligibility highlights: a Ph.D. or Ed.D. in agricultural education or a closely related field is required; ABD candidates who have completed all doctoral coursework will be considered. Applicants should have at least three years of professional experience teaching agricultural education at the middle or high school level, a background in the social sciences, and experience with online course development and instruction.
