Prof Basilicata's research explores investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying rare neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) using a variety of methods including CRISPR engineering, high-resolution microscopy , multi-omics approaches, and both 2D and 3D embryonic stem cell cultures . Her lab is part of the Division of Physiological Chemistry, headed by Prof Andreas Ladurner.

In a recent interview, she shared what fascinates her about this work, why she chose to move to the BMC, and what new team members can look forward to when joining her group.
