University of Liverpool is inviting prospective applicants for the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship in Children, Childhood & Socio-Legal Studies.

This is a postdoctoral opportunity for early-career researchers whose work engages with childhood and children’s lives, children’s rights, and socio-legal or theoretical approaches, including interdisciplinary research. The post is being discussed with Nicolás Brando, Senior Lecturer / Derby Fellow at the University of Liverpool (School of Law and Social Justice), who is open to hearing from prospective candidates.

The British Academy fellowship is a prestigious 3-year award. According to the University of Liverpool scheme page, it covers the fellow’s salary plus £6,000 research expenses across the fellowship period. The scheme is aimed at outstanding early-career researchers developing an independent research agenda within a supportive academic environment.

Eligibility highlights: applicants are usually expected to be within three years of the award of a doctorate; for this round, the relevant window extends from 1 April 2024 to 1 April 2027. Applicants must be supported by the UK host institution, must not have held a permanent academic post, and must satisfy British Academy nationality/doctorate/UK association rules.
