About this position

A fully funded PhD scholarship is available in the Falconer Group in the School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Auckland, researching catalysts attached to solid supports. You will design, make and study new titanium catalysts to better understand the reactivity of earth-abundant metals, ultimately working to improve sustainability in chemistry. The research will cross the disciplines of organic, inorganic and materials chemistry.

Candidates should have a strong background in organic and/or inorganic synthesis. Experience with air-sensitive techniques (glovebox, Schlenk line) would be an advantage.

The scholarship is $35,000 per year for 3 years funded by the Marsden Fund, Royal Society of New Zealand. Domestic and international applicants are welcome to apply. Tuition fees are covered by the scholarship. Start date of 1st March 2025, but can be delayed for the right applicant.
