Offer Description
This is a postdoctoral position focused on the synthesis and characterization of environmentally friendly polymers. It will take place at the ICPEES (Institute of Chemistry and Processes for Energy, Environment, and Health, UMR 7515 of the CNRS and the University of Strasbourg). The ICPEES has a total staff of around 130 people, including around 60 permanent staff and 70 non-permanent staff (doctoral students, postdoctoral researchers, and technical staff). The ICPEES is made up of three main departments, including the Polymer Engineering Department, which itself consists of two teams, one of which is the “BioTeam” led by Prof. Luc Avérous. The BioTeam focuses on experimental approaches aimed at designing systems based on biodegradable and/or renewable polymers for environmental and biomedical applications.
Responsibilities and expected outputs:
- To conduct, develop, and manage a research topic within the frame of the project
- Potential supervision of early-stage researchers
- Publication of results in high-impact journals
- Presentation of the results in reports/publications and during meetings (local or international)
This postdoctoral position is focused on polymer synthesis, biopolymer modifications, and characterization of biobased polymer materials, obtained from different building blocks (e.g., lignins).
The successful candidate will join the BioTeam, a renowned international research group (led by Professor Luc Avérous) based at ICPEES (Institute of Chemistry and Processes for Energy, Environment and Health, UMR 7515 of the CNRS and the University of Strasbourg). The University of Strasbourg is one of Europe's leading universities in the field of chemistry. The BioTeam focuses on experimental approaches aimed at designing biodegradable and/or renewable polymer-based systems for environmental and biomedical applications. This project is funded by our own resources. It will be developed in collaboration with an international company based in Strasbourg (Soprema – world leader in the field of waterproofing and insulation for buildings) as part of a joint research laboratory (Mutaxio) and in collaboration with other European university laboratories.
The candidate will find university catering facilities on site and easy access to the campus by public transport.
