I'm excited to announce ?????? ?????????? ???????????? ?????? ?????????????????? under my supervision, starting Spring 2026, in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at FIU. These positions are ideal for highly motivated students passionate about AI, automation, and structural engineering.
?? Research Areas:
1. AI-Based Bridge Assessment
Develop intelligent monitoring systems and digital twins for bridges and other civil structures. This includes sensor integration, data-driven modeling, and AI-powered diagnostics to enhance structural health monitoring and predictive maintenance.
2. AI-Assisted Additive Manufacturing for Bridge Automation
Investigation of 3D printing in bridge construction, supported by AI-based form finding techniques to optimize geometry and material distribution. The research will explore advanced AI methods—including neural networks, genetic algorithms, and reinforcement learning—to push the boundaries of what can be achieved through additive manufacturing in civil infrastructure.
?? Candidate Profile:
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Programming skills (Python, MATLAB, or C++)
- Strong analytical mindset, self-motivated, and good communication skills
