Clinical Coordinator opportunity in mental health research at Sangath India

The THRIVE study team is recruiting a Clinical Coordinator for an ambitious project in Karwar, Karnataka. THRIVE evaluates an intersectional intervention to improve clinical, functional, and economic outcomes among adults with severe depression in rural India. The role sits at the intersection of mental health, community-based care, implementation research, and health systems strengthening.

The selected candidate will coordinate intervention delivery, supervise lay health workers, monitor fidelity through session recordings and feedback, support risk management and referrals, manage cash transfers and transparent disbursements, and contribute to reports, manuscripts, and publications. The post also involves working with local stakeholders and ensuring gender-sensitive, culturally appropriate delivery of the intervention.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Mental Health, or a related clinical field; 1–3 years of clinical counselling experience; experience in research and/or community programmes; strong documentation, data management, and communication skills; proficiency with MS Office and digital tools. Experience in risk assessment and safety planning is essential. Kannada language skills are desirable, and prior experience in randomized controlled trials, clinical supervision, rural settings, or RedCap is an advantage.

Location: Karwar, Karnataka, India. Employer: Sangath, a non-profit organization with a strong track record in community-based mental health and related research.

Contract and funding: full-time paid position, 1-year contract, 6-month probation, with possible extension for another year based on performance.
