Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool, United Kingdom, is seeking a Clinical Scientist (Microbiologist) to join their leading paediatric clinical microbiology department. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting and developing the Paediatric Infection Service, working closely with laboratory, infection control, and clinical paediatric infectious diseases teams. Responsibilities include clinical authorisation of laboratory results, providing scientific and clinical advice, participating in multidisciplinary meetings, maintaining quality standards, and contributing to research and development activities. The role also involves training laboratory and clinical staff, leading audits, and ensuring compliance with UKAS ISO15189 requirements.

Applicants must hold a first degree in Microbiology or a related field and an MSc in Microbiology or a relevant area. Registration as a Clinical Scientist in Clinical Microbiology with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential, or candidates must be working towards this.
