The University of Warwick is offering a fully funded PhD studentship in Computational Quantum Engineering of Nanoscale Molecular Devices within the Quantum Device Modelling Group. The research project aims to exploit the electronic properties of nanoscale materials to discover and design new materials for nanoelectronic applications. The ultimate goal is to understand quantum transport through molecular structures, such as single molecules and graphene nanoribbons, to develop functional quantum devices. The successful candidate will receive comprehensive training in computational materials modelling and gain hands-on experience with advanced quantum transport simulation methods.

As part of the Quantum Device Modelling Group, you will conduct a vibrant research project with high publication potential and have opportunities to collaborate with internationally leading experimental groups in the UK, Europe, and beyond. The studentship covers full tuition fees and provides a tax-free stipend of £21,805, paid at the prevailing UKRI rate for 3.5 years of full-time study.

Eligibility requirements include a first-class or 2.1 Bachelors or Masters degree in physical science or engineering disciplines, along with a strong interest in computational materials modelling. Experience with molecular-scale simulation is desirable but not essential. Candidates must meet the University of Warwick entry criteria and obtain an unconditional offer before enrolment.
