Democratic Resilience addresses how democracies can withstand and adapt to the pressures of global crises, from pandemics and climate change to conflict and mass migration. We examine whether and how democratic systems are inherently more resilient than autocratic alternatives. Our work spans individual, societal, systemic, and international levels to identify the conditions that support democratic stability, legitimacy, and long-term viability. Deadline for applications: 1 October 2025, start of the PhD program: April 2026.
