This project aims to develop a CA storage protocol, particularly suitable for extending storage life and maintaining the quality of economically important Australian mango cultivars. CA will extend the availability of fresh mango fruit in domestic markets and facilitate international trade. The success of the project will improve Australian export performance by reducing freight costs and improving profit for the mango industry. We are looking for a PhD candidate with a sound background in horticulture, agriculture, plant physiology, biochemistry, and food science. The candidate with research experience in postharvest physiology of fruit crops, laboratory, and fieldwork. Able to work with growers and team members in a multicultural environment. The candidate should possess knowledge and experience in CA and MAP, cold storage, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Previous experience in HPLC, GC, mass spectrometry and laboratory analysis are highly advantageous. The scholarship includes tuition fee sponsorship and a stipend of $35,000 per annum paid fortnightly for up to 3 years full-time (PhD).
