Doctoral Bursary in Financial Accounting and Reporting (PhD) British Accounting & Finance Association in United Kingdom

The British Accounting & Finance Association (BAFA) Financial Accounting and Reporting Special Interest Group (FARSIG) is offering a doctoral bursary scheme for 2026, aimed at supporting research and scholarship in financial accounting and reporting. This opportunity is open to current registered doctoral students, either full or part time, who are conducting research in financial accounting and reporting. The bursary provides financial support up to £2,000 for eligible research-related expenses such as data collection, transcription, and research training costs. Fees, conference attendance, and data/statistical analysis are not covered.

Applicants must submit a statement explaining their motivation for applying, a two-page summary of their doctoral research (including aims, progress, and future plans), clear costings and timelines for the requested support, and a signed formal letter of support from their principal supervisor. Successful applicants are required to use the awarded funds within one year and must present their research at a future Financial Reporting and Business Communication Conference (FRBC) within two years of receiving the bursary. The application deadline is 30 April 2026, and all applicants will be informed of the decision by the end of May 2026. This scheme is designed to encourage high-quality research in financial accounting and reporting, supporting doctoral students in advancing their academic careers.
