Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) is advertising a doctoral position in Human Resource Management within the Institute for Human Resource Management. The position focuses on contextual HRM, examining how technical and social developments in society influence the management of work and people in organizations.

The role is a part-time research and teaching associate position (30 hours/week) starting 1 October 2026 and lasting 6 years. The successful candidate will contribute to empirical research projects, academic publications, conference activities, teaching, student advising, and administrative tasks. One-third of working time is dedicated to dissertation research.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a diploma/master’s degree in a social science or business discipline such as business administration, management, or sociology, and must qualify for enrollment in a doctoral program at WU. Strong knowledge of HRM, organizations, work and labor relations is expected, together with quantitative and/or qualitative research methods skills and familiarity with tools such as R, SPSS, Stata, MAXQDA, NVivo, or Atlas. Excellent German and English skills are required.

Funding: the position is salaried, with a minimum monthly gross salary of €2,832.08 (paid 14 times per year), plus social benefits and possible adjustment for prior experience.
