The University of Luxembourg invites applications for a Doctoral Researcher position in Data Quality & Sensor Reliability. This opportunity is based within the Advanced Engineering and Smart Sensor Solutions (AE3S) research group and forms part of the Interreg GreenFab project, a European cross-border initiative supporting sustainable and energy-efficient manufacturing in the Greater Region. The PhD project focuses on developing methods to ensure reliable, selective, and high-quality data in smart sensor systems used for industrial monitoring and sustainable manufacturing. Research topics include sensor data validation, anomaly detection, uncertainty estimation, and the detection and compensation of sensor drift and degradation. The candidate will design and evaluate robust data pipelines, develop computational tools for sensor data validation, and collaborate with both academic and industrial partners within the GreenFab consortium.
Applicants should have a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, Data Science, or a closely related field. Essential skills include a strong background in signal processing, measurement systems, or data analysis, as well as programming proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or similar environments. Experience with sensor data processing, machine learning, anomaly detection, uncertainty analysis, sensor calibration, and experimental measurements is highly valued. Candidates must demonstrate at least B2-level proficiency in the language of their thesis, with accepted certificates as specified by the university.
The position offers a fixed-term contract of 36 months, full-time (40 hours per week), with a yearly gross salary of EUR 41,976.
