The University of Luxembourg invites applications for a doctoral researcher position in Multilingualism Promotion in Families. This opportunity is based within the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FHSE), renowned for its interdisciplinary and multilingual research culture. The successful candidate will develop a doctoral thesis under the supervision of Prof. Claudine Kirsch, collaborating with Dr. Mélanie Wagner (UL), Dr. Sophie Pilleron (LIH), and the interdisciplinary ProMulti team. The research will focus on understanding how parents, educators, and healthcare professionals promote multilingualism among families with children aged 0-11 years in Luxembourg.
As a doctoral researcher, you will actively contribute to the ProMulti project, produce high-quality research articles, assist with project management and research activities, and participate in teaching. You will be a member of the Department of Humanities and the Research Institute of Multilingualism, engaging in its academic and research activities. The project offers a unique opportunity to explore topics such as family language policies, communication about multilingual development, and the interaction between various actors and sectors in promoting multilingualism.
Applicants must hold a Master's degree in educational sciences, linguistics, or psychology, and possess a strong theoretical understanding of language learning. Experience and interest in multilingualism development are essential. The ability to work in a multidisciplinary research environment, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, is required. Language proficiency at least at B2-level in the language of the thesis is mandatory, with accepted certificates as specified by the university.

The position is a fixed-term contract for 36 months, full-time (40 hours per week), based at the Belval Campus. The yearly gross salary for doctoral researchers is EUR 43445.
