As an international research university with a multilingual and interdisciplinary character, the University offers a dynamic academic environment at the heart of Europe, benefiting from close ties to European institutions, Luxembourg's financial centre, and a vibrant business community.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Werner Haslehner, preparing a doctoral thesis in the field of Tax Law. The research topic should be proposed by the candidate and developed in close discussion with the supervisor, with a preference for topics relevant to Luxembourg and contributing to the development of Luxembourg legal doctrine. The position also involves contributing to teaching activities, typically in small group settings and tutorials, for one to three hours per week.

Doctoral researchers will be embedded in a research group comprising professors, PhDs, and postdoctoral researchers focused on tax law. They will have access to university events and are encouraged to participate actively in academic conferences and seminars as part of their training. The university provides a modern, inclusive, and international environment, with staff from over 90 countries and strong links to professional sectors and the Luxembourg labour market.

Applicants must hold a Master's Degree in tax law and demonstrate at least B2-level proficiency in the language of their thesis. Application materials include a CV, cover letter detailing motivation and fit, transcripts of all university-level courses, and contact information for one referee. The position offers a fixed-term contract of 36 months, full-time (40 hours per week), with a yearly gross salary of EUR 43,445. Early application is encouraged as applications are processed upon reception. Applications must be submitted online through the university's HR system; email applications will not be considered.
