About this position
KTH Royal Institute of Technology invites applications for a doctoral student position focused on collaboration for efficient and sustainable infrastructure development. This research project, conducted in partnership with Svenska kraftnät, addresses the urgent need to strengthen and expand Sweden's national electricity grid. The project centers on the implementation of collaboration-based procurement strategies, both for individual and bundled infrastructure projects, aiming to generate research-based knowledge that will enhance operational practices at Svenska kraftnät and contribute to the broader development of Swedish client competence in the sector.
The doctoral research will primarily employ qualitative methods, including interviews, meeting observations, and document analysis. The successful candidate will work closely with both Svenska kraftnät and their academic supervisors, becoming part of a small, internationally recognized research group with a strong track record of industry collaboration. The position also offers opportunities to engage with a network of doctoral students and senior researchers across Sweden and internationally.
Supervision will be provided by Dr. Anna Kadefors, an expert in the field. The position is fully funded, offering a monthly salary in accordance with KTH's doctoral student salary agreement, and includes full-time employment for up to four years with comprehensive employee benefits. The research group is based at KTH in Stockholm, a leading international technical university committed to advancing sustainable societal development through education, research, and innovation.
Applicants must hold a second cycle degree (such as a master's) or have completed at least 240 higher education credits (with at least 60 at the second-cycle level), or possess equivalent qualifications. Degrees from technical universities (e.g., Built Environment, Industrial Engineering, Architecture), social sciences (e.g., Business Administration, Public Administration), or behavioral sciences with a focus on organizational development are all considered relevant. High proficiency in Swedish (or Norwegian or Danish) is essential for data collection and daily work, and English proficiency equivalent to English B/6 is also required. Selection will emphasize academic qualifications, independence, collaboration skills, analytical ability, curiosity, creativity, conscientiousness, societal interest, and writing skills. Security clearance may be required for some positions.
To apply, submit your application via KTH's recruitment system by April 2, 2026. Applications must include certified copies of diplomas and grades, proof of language proficiency, a CV, and an application letter outlining your motivation, academic interests, and how they relate to your previous studies and future goals. Join KTH and contribute to shaping the future of sustainable infrastructure development in Sweden.
