At HPI, you will benefit from close supervision by experienced professors and postdocs, cutting-edge research facilities, and a collaborative academic network, e.g. with the University of Cape Town (UCT) and the University of California Irvine (UCI).Data and information engineering encompasses collecting, integrating, cleaning, storing, managing, and analysing raw data to support data-intensive applications. Researchers in this field design robust, scalable architectures and pipelines to transform raw data into reliable, accessible formats, leveraging techniques like real-time streaming and batch processing. These efforts provide the foundation for advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI applications.The IDE Research School guides PhD researchers by offering a platform for collaboration, regular interactions, a research methods curriculum, and extracurricular activities. These are administered exclusively by Brandenburg's Association for Student Affairs ("Studierendenwerk West:Brandenburg"). You can apply for a room in one of these dormitories if you are under the age of 30. If you are a Master's student, you can only apply if the degree at the University of Potsdam is your first Master's programme. Additionally, there are also a few private dormitories in Potsdam, to which these conditions do not apply. However, many students prefer to find an apartment in Potsdam or Berlin, which they often share with fellow students.
