Experiences of refugees/asylum seekers in the UK Anglia Ruskin University in United Kingdom

This fully-funded PhD opportunity at Anglia Ruskin University, in partnership with the Cambridge Doctoral Training Partnership, focuses on the experiences of minority faith group and LGBT+ refugees/asylum seekers in the UK. The interdisciplinary project investigates identity-specific barriers to accessing services and community assets, with a particular emphasis on discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender reassignment, or faith group membership within diaspora or refugee populations. The project is affiliated with MigRefHealth and involves collaboration with several community organizations. Supervisors include Prof Jeannette Baxter, Margaret Greenfields, Dr Chantal Radley, and others, offering expertise in social sciences, health inequality, and refugee studies.

The studentship covers tuition and provides a stipend for UK students, while international students must secure additional funding. Applicants should have a strong academic background in relevant disciplines and be prepared to study at one of ARU’s campuses.

The application deadline is 16 November 2025, with interviews in December. The program aims to foster a diverse and inclusive research community addressing key societal challenges.
