About this position

The Fritz Haber Excellence Post Doc Fellowship at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem offers an outstanding opportunity for interdisciplinary research at the renowned Fritz Haber Research Center (FHRC), located on the Edmond J. Safra Campus in Jerusalem. The FHRC, established in 1981, is globally recognized for its pioneering work in molecular dynamics, theoretical chemistry, and materials science. Named after Nobel laureate Fritz Haber, the Center fosters collaborations with scientists worldwide and is comprised of nine independent research groups led by principal investigators in fields such as quantum chemistry, electronic structure theory, astrochemistry, statistical mechanics, quantum thermodynamics, and quantum computing.

Fellows are expected to conduct independent, high-quality research while engaging closely with at least one, and preferably more, research groups within the Center. The environment is highly collaborative, with access to state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and world-class faculty. The Hebrew University is a top-100 global institution, home to over 25,000 students and 100+ research centers, and is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The fellowship provides generous funding: an annual stipend of 40,000 USD for two years, plus an annual allowance of 2,500 USD to support professional and research-related activities, including conference participation. The Center encourages applications from candidates with a PhD in Chemistry, Physics, or related fields, a strong research background, publication record, and excellent communication skills. Experience in theory development or numerical methods is advantageous.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, copy of academic degree(s), list of publications, and a research statement (up to two pages) as three separate PDFs. Three confidential letters of recommendation must be sent directly by referees to [email protected]. The application deadline is March 1st, 2026. For further details, candidates may contact PIs of the Center or visit the Center's website.

Jerusalem offers a vibrant cultural and academic environment, with students from over 90 countries. The Hebrew University’s commitment to diversity ensures an inclusive atmosphere for all fellows. This fellowship is ideal for researchers seeking to advance their careers in theoretical chemistry, materials science, and related interdisciplinary fields.
