About this position

The CAS-ANSO Scholarship offers 540 fully funded opportunities for international students to pursue Master’s and PhD degrees in China. Each year, 100–200 Master’s and 300 PhD students are supported to study at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS), or institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) across China. The program is open to applicants from all countries except China, with special consideration for candidates from Least Developed Countries and women, especially for the ANSO-CAS-TWAS/UNESCO PhD Scholarship sub-category, which prioritizes climate-related research. The scholarship covers tuition, a monthly stipend, health insurance, and travel subsidies (for those not already in China).

Awardees receive training in Chinese language and culture, and must complete all required credits and research for their degree. The program is designed to cultivate young scientists in a wide range of science and technology fields, including but not limited to biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science, environmental science, earth science, and materials science. Eligibility requirements include being born after January 1, 1996 (Master’s) or January 1, 1991 (PhD), proficiency in English or Chinese, and meeting the admission criteria of USTC or UCAS.

Applicants cannot be currently enrolled in a degree program in China at the same level, nor apply to both USTC and UCAS simultaneously. The application period opens on October 15, 2025, and the deadline is January 31, 2026. Applications must be submitted through the respective university’s online system, with all required documents and the selection of the CAS-ANSO Scholarship option.

For more information, visit the official ANSO, USTC, or UCAS websites. Contact emails for inquiries include [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], and [email protected].
