About this position

Western University’s RESTORE Research Group is inviting applications for fully funded Master’s, PhD, and postdoctoral positions in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, and Hydrology in London, Ontario, Canada.

The project is part of the NSERC Alliance Program and focuses on understanding the role of groundwater in transporting pollutants such as chloride to the Great Lakes, as well as urban shoreline contamination pathways. The research is highly interdisciplinary and combines field investigations (geophysics, groundwater sampling, tracers) with numerical modeling of groundwater flow and contaminant transport.

Successful candidates will work on designing and executing field campaigns, analyzing hydrogeological and geochemical data, applying modeling tools, and communicating results through high-impact publications. The group collaborates with Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Ontario Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks.

Applicants should have a background in Civil / Environmental / Water Resources Engineering or Earth Sciences / Environmental Sciences. Preferred experience includes hydrogeology, hydrology, geophysics, or geochemistry, plus either field sampling/monitoring or numerical modeling. Postdoctoral applicants must hold a PhD and have a strong publication record. Willingness to work in field conditions, including harsh weather, is required.

The positions are described as fully funded; the post notes that the RESTORE Research Group has secured $6M+ in funding. No stipend amount is specified. Start date is July 2026 (flexible), and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.

To apply, email your CV, unofficial transcripts, cover letter, and two references to [email protected] and [email protected].
