About this position

Multiple fully funded Graduate Research Assistant positions are available in Transportation Engineering at the University of Wyoming with Dr. Pei Li. The openings are for MSc and PhD study, with start terms in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027.

The research group focuses on safe, intelligent, and connected transportation systems, integrating interdisciplinary methods in Artificial Intelligence, digital twins, Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X), and human factors. Current and ongoing research themes include modeling and understanding cyber-physical transportation systems, highway management, LLM-based safety prediction, and data-driven approaches for proactive traffic safety management.

Applicants should have a background in a relevant field such as Transportation Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or Statistics. Strong programming, statistical, and computational skills are expected. Experience with Python, C++, R, or MATLAB is preferred, and familiarity with machine learning frameworks, LLM tools, traffic simulation platforms, and driving simulators is desirable but not mandatory.

The positions are described as fully funded. The post does not specify a deadline, so applicants should contact the supervisor as soon as possible.

To apply, email Dr. Pei Li directly at [email protected] with a CV, statement of purpose, academic transcripts, and samples of prior work. Additional information is available via the University of Wyoming civil engineering page.
