About this position

PhD position in Developmental Neurobiology at Grenoble Institute of Neurosciences (GIN), Université Grenoble Alpes, France.

This fully funded 3-year PhD project is part of the SHINING project, titled “Shaping the Developing Cortex through Translational Regulation”. The research focuses on developmental neurobiology, translational regulation, and cortical development, with an emphasis on how mRNA translation controls the development of cortical excitatory neurons.

The project aims to understand how translational control regulates key developmental steps such as progenitor proliferation, neuronal migration, and neuronal maturation, and how disruption of these processes may contribute to cortical malformations and neurodevelopmental disorders. The work will use mouse models and complementary in vivo and molecular approaches, including in utero electroporation, translatome profiling, and advanced imaging techniques.

The successful candidate will join the Grenoble Institute of Neurosciences, a multidisciplinary research environment with access to advanced imaging platforms, animal facilities, and cutting-edge molecular technologies. The position is open to international candidates.

Eligibility: Master’s degree or equivalent in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field. A strong background in developmental biology and/or neurobiology is expected. Experience with mouse models, molecular biology, or imaging is an advantage. Strong analytical skills, good English communication skills, and high motivation/organization are required.

Funding: Fully funded PhD for 3 years.

Deadline: 2026-07-07.

How to apply: Prepare a CV, a summary of research experience, scientific interests, and career goals, plus contact details for three references. Email the application to the contacts listed in the post.
