About this position

PhD position in Developmental Neurobiology at the Grenoble Institute of Neuroscience (GIN, INSERM U1216, Université Grenoble Alpes, France).

The project is titled “Shaping the Developing Cortex through Translational Regulation (SHINING)” and focuses on cortical development, protein synthesis, and mRNA translation. The research aims to understand how translational control regulates the development of cortical excitatory neurons and how disruption of these mechanisms may contribute to malformations of cortical development and neurodevelopmental disorders.

The successful candidate will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment with access to advanced imaging platforms, animal facilities, and cutting-edge molecular technologies. The project uses complementary in vivo and molecular approaches, including mouse models, in utero electroporation, translational profiling, and advanced imaging techniques.

Eligibility: Applicants should have a Master’s degree or equivalent in Neuroscience, Cell Biology, or Molecular Biology. A strong background in developmental biology and/or neurobiology is expected. Experience with mouse models, molecular biology, or imaging is an advantage. Strong analytical skills, good English communication, motivation, and organization are required.

Funding: Fully funded for 3 years.

Deadline: 07 July 2026.

How to apply: Send a CV, a description of your research experience, scientific interests, and career goals, plus contact details for three references, to [email protected] and [email protected].
