About this position
Open call for two fully funded PhD research positions in Energy Economics at the Centre for Economic Expertise, Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Vilnius University, Lithuania. The positions are part of the ENERPOL Doctoral Network under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network and the EU Horizon Europe programme.
The research themes are highly relevant to energy economics, demand flexibility, household demand response, residential sector, behavioral economics, microeconomics, applied econometrics, and experimental methods. Position 1 focuses on smart contracts for household demand response, including market design for energy flexibility and laboratory experiments. Position 2 focuses on the determinants of household demand response, using choice and survey experiments across Lithuania, Germany, Poland, and Sweden.
Supervision is by Professor Jūratė Jaraitė, Professor Andrius Kažukauskas, and Professor Robertas Zubrickas, working in a research group on energy, behavioral economics, and public economics. The project offers an international training environment with summer schools, workshops, cross-national supervision, and both academic and industry secondments.
Funding is for 36 months. The expected monthly gross salary is EUR 4,182 (EUR 3,472 living allowance + EUR 710 mobility allowance), with a possible EUR 660 family allowance where applicable. The position is full time and linked to successful enrolment as a PhD student at Vilnius University.
Eligibility highlights include a Master’s degree in Economics or a related discipline, very good grades, solid training in microeconomics and applied econometrics, ability to use statistical software such as STATA or R, and fluent written and spoken English. Applicants must also satisfy the MSCA mobility rule and must not already hold a doctoral degree at the start date.
