Fully funded PhD opportunity at the University of Göttingen in Germany under RTG 2987, focused on Mobility Rights in the Global Context of Multiple Crises. This doctoral opening is designed for candidates interested in law, migration studies, international relations, and related social science perspectives on global migration governance.

The position is part of a structured Research Training Group and offers interdisciplinary doctoral training, access to leading experts in migration governance, and a strong international research environment. The research theme centers on how migration agreements and global governance systems shape mobility rights during political, economic, environmental, and humanitarian crises.

Applicants are expected to align their proposal with one of the core research areas, especially Research Area 11: Migration Agreements. Relevant topics include bilateral and multilateral migration agreements, legal and political frameworks regulating migration flows, cross-border cooperation in migration management, and broader questions of mobility control and border governance.

Eligibility highlights include being eligible for doctoral studies in Germany, holding or nearing completion of a Master’s degree, and having a strong academic background in Law, Political Science, International Relations, Migration Studies, or related fields. A strong, original research proposal and fulfillment of doctoral admission requirements at the Faculty of Law are required.

Funding is provided through the German public academic salary system: TV-L E13 at 75% employment, with support for up to 4 years. This is a fully funded doctoral researcher position rather than a scholarship-only award.
