Ulster University is offering two fully funded PhD positions under the supervision of Professor Qasim Malik, focusing on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Healthcare. These positions are ideal for motivated researchers interested in developing real-world AI solutions that address pressing healthcare challenges.

The research projects include: (1) Securing Medical IoT by creating lightweight, trustworthy AI to protect data on devices such as smartwatches and glucose monitors, and (2) Clinical Form Automation, which involves developing agentic NLP models and large language models (LLMs) to reduce clinician paperwork and improve patient care. Both projects emphasize trustworthy and responsible AI for healthcare systems.

The support package includes full tuition fee coverage, a tax-free stipend of £19,237 per year, and paid opportunities to work as a Lab Demonstrator (up to 6 hours per week).
