Fully Funded PhD Studentships in Low-Carbon Climate Adaptation and Community Resilience at the University of Manchester University of Manchester in United Kingdom

CAST (Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations) is advertising two fully funded PhD studentships at the University of Manchester for UK students only.

1) Low-carbon Climate Adaptation in UK Households: Understanding participation in, and pathways toward, low-carbon climate adaptation
This project examines the relationship between adaptation and mitigation across everyday actions and aims to develop evidence-based policy pathways for low-carbon adaptation. The project is supervised by Dr Ruth Wood.

2) Community resilience and cascading climate impacts
This project focuses on how climate impacts cascade through critical infrastructure and affect essential services, communities, and everyday practices. It is supervised by Dr Sarah Mander and Dr Ruth Wood.

Relevant research themes include climate change adaptation, community resilience, cascading risks, critical infrastructure, policy, and the social dimensions of climate action. The post emphasizes people’s roles as commuters, carers, workers, citizens, and consumers, and highlights the need for research that can inform practical and policy responses.
