Fully Funded Postdoc in Railway Operation Optimization, Signal Control, and AI in Railways at Tongji University Tongji University in China

Fully funded postdoctoral opportunity at Tongji University in Shanghai, hosted by the STAR Lab (Smart Transit & Autonomous Railway Lab) and shared on behalf of Prof. Dongxiu Ou. The position is aimed at outstanding overseas PhD graduates with research interests in railway operation optimization, railway signal control, AI in railways, and related areas in intelligent transportation and autonomous railway systems.

The program is the 2026 Tongji University Outstanding Postdoctoral Overseas Introduction Program (Category A & B). It offers highly competitive compensation, described as equivalent to Shanghai’s “Super Postdoc” standard, including a salary of up to 450,000 RMB per year and a one-time living allowance of 150,000 RMB.

Eligibility highlights include: applicants must be under 35 (born after January 1, 1991), demonstrate strong research and innovation potential, and meet one of the following academic background conditions: PhD from a Global Top 100 university, PhD discipline ranked in the Global Top 100, or PhD supervisor recognized as an internationally top-tier expert. Applicants must not be in China at the time of application, must be able to start within one year if approved, must work full-time for at least 24 months, and must not have been selected for other overseas talent introduction programs.
