About this position

Call for applications for three fully funded postdoctoral positions in law at the Centre for Climate Change Law and Governance (CLIMA), Faculty of Law, University of Copenhagen, Denmark.

The positions are part of two research projects: SeaPact and BETRUE. SeaPact includes two 36-month postdoctoral roles starting on 1 September 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter). BETRUE includes one 24-month postdoctoral role starting on 1 September 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter).

Research areas and keywords: law, climate change law, environmental law, ocean law, biodiversity law, food transition, true pricing, sustainability transitions, international law, and governance. SeaPact focuses on vessel-based pollution, scrubbers, marine litter, and the interaction between overlapping legal regimes such as UNCLOS, MARPOL, the London Convention and Protocol, the climate regime, regional seas conventions, EU law, and biodiversity law. BETRUE focuses on the legal and governance dimensions of true pricing in the transition to plant-based alternatives.

Eligibility: applicants must hold a relevant doctoral degree (PhD in law, JSD, or equivalent) by the time of appointment. Strong English skills are required. The university emphasizes high-quality peer-reviewed publication potential, international impact, and willingness to contribute to collaborative research; teaching experience is relevant for the two posts with teaching obligations.

Funding and terms: the positions are fully funded salaried appointments under Danish employment rules, with pension contribution and possible salary supplements. Postdoc 1 and 2 include teaching duties; postdoc 3 does not.
