Funded Master's and PhD positions are open in bioinformatics at the Benoukraf Lab, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University of Newfoundland (St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada). The lab is led by Dr. Touati Benoukraf and works at the intersection of computational biology, cancer genomics, multi-omics, precision oncology, and translational genomics.

Students will contribute to colorectal cancer multi-omics research within the Marathon of Hope Cancer Centres Network and the Atlantic Cancer Consortium. The work involves developing and applying bioinformatics pipelines for whole-genome sequencing, RNA-seq, epigenomics, and integrative omics data from cancer patients. The post emphasizes hands-on collaboration with wet-lab researchers and access to freshly produced sequencing datasets generated on site at MUN.

Ideal applicants have a background in bioinformatics, computer science, computational biology, biology, or another quantitative field. Required skills include Python programming, Linux/Unix experience, and strong analytical ability. Helpful but not mandatory experience includes SQL/databases and basic molecular biology/genetics knowledge.
