The Short Lab at The Ohio State University is recruiting a funded graduate student to begin in Fall 2026. This opportunity is part of an NIH-funded study focused on the interplay between the microbiota and life history traits in male Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.

The position may be pursued as either an M.S. or PhD, depending on student interest. The lab is housed in the Department of Entomology and affiliated with the Infectious Diseases Institute at OSU in Columbus, Ohio, USA.

Funding: annual stipend of $34,764, with tuition and health insurance covered at 100%.

Required background: a Bachelor's degree in the life sciences, a strong academic record, prior research experience, and strong writing skills.

Preferred experience: vector biology, microbiology, microbial ecology, metagenomics, metabolomics, teamwork, and molecular/organismal experiments in insect systems.
